Like I promised: Here is the report about the Light walk through Gokusho.
It is a very old kind of festival where many lanterns are placed at the sides of the streets. So it looks very romantic ;)
There is an art existing which builds up Tomyos and decorates them (that's what I know).
For explanation: A tomyo is a little traditional lamp out of paper. In the middle of that lantern is a candle for example:
It started at 18 o'clock and ended at 21 o'clock. That is what the schedule said.
I went there with some friends of my language school in Tenjin. Therefore we took the bus from Tenjin to near get near the festival.
This was our route:

As you can see it wasn't only Gokusho.
At first we get of the bus at the beginning of the read line upper right corner. After that we went to Nr.1. .
There were many bambus sticks which were used as a kind of a lamp. That was just the street.
A man said to us that we should go inside of a house we stood infront of. We all thought that it would be a normal restaurant. That's why at first many of us didn't go inside.
But it was worth! Inside of that house was a little garden with a shrine. It looked totally beautiful! Infront of the shrine were also many lightning bambussticks.
Unfortnuatually I havn't got so many pictures because of that missing light at night. After we have been there I got better pictures. But again because the great help of Ryu-san I got these pictures:
The bambussticks outside:
After that great experience we went to the Shôfukuji Tempel I already wrote about.
Inside of the wall of the Tempel is a pond. On that pond is a little platform for perfomances.
As we walked around that area, we lost nearly our whole group..ok we expected it. Normally a group of 40 people is too big to go to such a festival without missing someone. Also we didn't had a time to join each other when someone is missing.
While we were suching for everyone in the Tempel, many gaishas walked inside.
So of course we had a look ;)
They were old and young. We thought the younger ones might be the students of the older ones. After they came in they stopped at the brige of the pond. Someone of the men who supported the gaishas played a traditional music instument.
If you want to listen a bit to that music you just have to download the titel below. It is recorded by Nozomi Fujiwara on facebook.com:
tomyo watching.mp4After that we found many of our group again and made a groupshot to make shure we have one. I hope I will find it at the internet to uploud it!
Than we went on. The next stop was the School ( 3 ).
Infront of it were many little lanterns buildung a picture:
Only if you went inside the school you could see the whole picture:
So as you can see it was a Shinkansen :)
Would you have imagined it? Ok we did. But only because of a little child who said it :)
In school we lost everyone...So a friend and I went on on ourselves! Ok we tried to find a good way :)
While we walked along a street we saw a little place to walk through. It was lightend with many lanterns. So it must be a right way. You should know, at such festival you just have to follow the lanterns!
After gooing along that path we were inside of an tempel area.
Many students stand around and many different looking lanterns were placed on platforms. I think it was kinda competition.
I will try getting the fotos from my handy! ( I havn't the right cabel with me...)
After that we went on to a very small shrine. Infront of it many sat a lot of japanese people. They tried to speak to us :)
It was very funny! They asked us if we could read real japanese (not the easy one..so it would nearly be only kanji...)
So we had a funny time :)
Thats the little shrine from the outside:

Than we went home. But we both my friend and I really enjoyed this japanese festival :D
So you shouldn't miss it next year! ;)
