Yesterday (3.11.2010) was a national holiday in Japan. This day is known as the "Day of Culture".
Therfore I really decided to go to the Asia Art Museum in Hakata.
But first of all I went a bit shopping ^^ After all I'm a woman :D
The museum was interesting and I felt a bit more intelligent then I did before ^^
As it is normal we were interesting to the other people there. It really was fun. Especially when we tried to draw a picture. A woman brought us to do it. So we sat down and got some papers. We had to copy some hadchings which were within the table. These were for example characters or figures. So we put our paper on them and went with the pen over it. After that we had the hadching on our papers.
We stayed there a longer time :D
I know everone must have thought: "foreigners" ^^
So this is the result:

It looks a bit strange but this is maybe what it should be like ^^
Even at a museum we found some German :) On a chinese calender poster stands where it belongs to in German.
I wasn't allowed to use flashlight so the pictures are a bit out of focus...
After finishing our museum trip and after we ate something we went to the Kushida shrine where the Hakata Light walk should start.
Unfortunatually one of my friends wasn't able to come. Right now she is doing an internship as well. She works for a non profit organisation named "Groundwork Fukuoka". Therefore she hadn't got a free day and went harvesting potatoes instead. Normally she would have done it to our meeting time (7pm) but she and her company went out for dinner...
This is the route of the Hakata Light Walk:

Just click on it and it will be shown unblurred.
As I alread wrote we started at the Kushida Shrine. There we wanted to look around but we wasn't allowed. Someone told us that we should go in from the other side :S
We went around the building and wanted to enter as well. Now they wanted to see a ticket.
A ticket? what kind of ticket?
All the time I thought it would be for free! Like it was at the Tomyo Watching. But it wasn't, of course not.
Then there was our next challenge: Understanding what they wanted to tell us.
The result: Each of us bought a ticket for 800 Yen...
That was kinda expensive. But what should we do? Go home? No we already had been there.
And now we could enter the first of four points of our route.
We really were allowed to go deaper in the shrine. So we could go behind the praying place.
Here are some pictures:

And now the best pictures :D :

The next stop was at the Hakata Folk Museum. Normally you have to pay 200 Yen to enter it. Yesterday it was for free :D
Or should I say the ticket price included it ^^
Infront of it was an old card and some little lanterns:

The museum is departed into two houses I think. The first is smaller. There you can buy some sweats and other souveniers. Also you can visit old machines they used to create obi in earlier times.
The second house is the real museum. At the first level you can see some examples of the Yamakasa festival (even a movie is shown) and some old telephones:
On the second level are exibition examples which shows the earlier livestyle of the people (for example an old kitchen):
We went on and passed a big torii which feet were lighted:
We followed the mass and ended at the Tochoji Temple.
Sometimes it was a bit difficult to take pictures. Too many people were standing or walking around. Also the many Photographers took the best places..
But here are these pictures I could take:
Even the little shrine was opened. Normally it is closed. Just a few times inn the year you can see it open :)
We tried to find the way to the next location. So we followed the arrows which guided the whole route of the Hakata Light Walk.
Maybe that's the reason why we found the way that time ^^
The next temple we entered was the Myorakuji Temple.
First of all we had to go a long way which was illuminated by lights:

Now we were inspired by all the culture all over this day. We ourselves made some "art": A great picture:
Ok we played a bit with the camera around^^
I've never been to this temple before. A new thing I'm able to check :)
At the end of the straight way we saw this:
Till now it was a great experience :) And everything after this was great as well :D
There was just one temple missing: The Jotenji. Before we entered it I had to take photos of the shadow images which were on the outer wall of the temple:
It looked so great at the wall :D
Inside of the temple the Yamakasa was exibited which had been carried this year.
And here is the big building which was inlighted:
As you remember the temple is departed in two parts. Therefore we wanted to cross the street. Before we were able to do that we saw some stands which sold food and other souveniers.
Because we were a bit out of time (It already was 8:00 pm and the light walk ended at 9:00 pm) we passed each of them.
But then we saw our problem: There was a big waiting line...One guy hold up a sign. At this one was written that we had to wait 20 minutes till that point. So we waited.
It didn't take us 20 minutes to come in :)
The guy with the sign had only this one and went farer and farer away from that point we started to wait. So maybe you'll have to wait 40 minutes instead of 20 minutes due to the fact of this only sign ^^
After a few minutes we realised some good ideas of people who were waiting. Just one stood in the line. The other one was eating or doing other stuff. After a bit of time they changed.
Maybe we should have done it the same ^^
Also at this place we were allowed to enter the big house.
Therefore we could see the inlighted stonegarden, another garden and a little praying place which stands inside:
The inside of this building was great :D The tatami mats were so comfortable that I wanted to pull them out and steal them. But my friends stopped me...
To get to the last point of this temple we had to wait once again..It was like everyone was now at this temple and not at the others..Maybe it was because of the time. It was already 8:20 pm.
Everyone waited to pray. We waited to get some great pictures at the same waiting line :D
That was the Hakata Light Walk. It was really fun and everything looked so beautiful. Ok I don't understand why it was so expensive but it was nice at all. Maybe it is kind of payment to the temple for letting the people in. But really they don't need the extra money. At every temple and at every shrine where people who prayied and therefore let money there.
I just wonderes if they select some or one temple or if they pray at every one. Than would be the question if every temple has got a special protection.
I came to that point where I believe that they prayed at each of the four places!
Therfore we really looked like tourists ^^ We prayed once at a shrine and once at a temple...not one more^^
But that's better than nothing :D
This was the end of a great day :)
