KUYOUTOU OOSEGAKI IN THE SHOUFUKUJI SHOFUKU TEMPLE

The events of this week finish the summertime. The temple event in the Shoufukuji Temple takes 2 days, the 21th and 22th August and is held every year. Tomorrow, on the second day, there is a dance, called odori, which has a long history.

IN MEMORY OF THE DEAD

The priest, which you can see on the picture, prays and thanks buddha. My manager told me, in the past, many people died by a strong drought in this area. The priest thanks Buddha, that the souls of the dead people, who suffered, can rest in the heaven. We light a stick of incense, as well.

About 30, approximately 3 meter high, very beautiful decorated lanterns with various motives hung up in the precinct. It is a pretty pleasant atmosphere. There were some food stalls and grilled meat skewer. We ate some of them and some pods.

I looked forward to the next day, because I would have really liked to see the odori. Unfortunately, there was a intense thunderstorm with a strong rain and the festival had to be stopped.
