An exhibition and an information center on two floors.

InitialeJ3.jpg ust around the corner of Hakatas Machiya Folk Museum is Hakatas Traditional Craft Center. It is worth to stop by along a tour through Hakata.
One floor higher, there is an exhibition of the Hakata dolls, the Hakata textiles and other crafts. There are two info panels, where you can inform about the history and production of the exhibits, also in different languages. Altough it is forbidden to take pictures, the really friendly staff allowed me to take some photos.
You can find a lot of information in the first floor and there is also the possibility to sit and drink something.

Fukuokas most famous traditional arts

Ha19.jpg  Ha30.jpg The Hakata dolls (in Japanese "Hakata Ningyo") are now one of Japan's most famous traditional arts. There are various types -  Beauties, Samureis, Children, Traditional and so on. The doll on the left is pretty famous. It is also in the middle of the room. My manager told me it symbolizes good fortune.
Ha20.jpg   The woven textiles (in Japanese "Hakata Ori"). I've read they are about 800 years old. A merchant brought this weaving technique from China to Japan.
